Rialto, San Bernardino County
Rialto was laid out in 1887 beside the new Santa Fe railroad line and incorporated in 1911. The name recalls the Rialto Bridge in Venice, and a bridge appears on the city seal. Foothill Boulevard, which carried Route 66 traffic across the north side of town, still has motels and signs from the highway era.
